On Monday Pekka Tuominen told about DigiPeople Studios. We were really exited to finally learn more about this company. He said that the company basiclaly do anything where pictures move. For example anything from blogs and animations to commercials. DigiPeople makes a showreel (link) twice a year, where they have a short video where they have combined their work that people can watch what they have done more easily. After this we were even more exited.

Pekka Tuominen answering questions

There were of course other companies' deputies. Other companies were Urakkamaailma, Seniori365, M3 Research, Lacy Box and Taivas + Helvetti. They were also interesting companies but DigiPeople is perfect for us. Mentors told us that we would have to present a plan on Thursay that what we are going to do with our companies. We also had to make a business model canvases.

After this our group and one other met Pekka Tuominen we talked more about that company and also what we are going to do. First we are going to choose three companies that we are interested in. Companies shouldn't be really small because they should have money to pay for a commercial. Then we would discuss with Mr Tuominen about what would be the best company for this purpose. When we have chosed one company, we are going to make a synopsis and basically write a commercial's script. And in the end if the script is good, DigiPeople will possibly have discussions with that company. If everything goes right, they might byt that commercial and we could see our commercial on TV! And also there is a possibility that we could assist with that when DigiPeople shoots that video. This is just an awesome opportunity.

Our grop met at school on Thuesday and decided that we would have a road trip to Porvoo on Wednesday. We would go there together and have a team meeting in there. First we went to Bloomberg. It is a candy factory and they also sell their candy in the same building.

Bloogerg's factory outlet

We also hud lunch there and visited Pete's petshop. That road trip was really fun and we all enjoyed it. It is important to do things together to bond even more so team work functions well.

On Thursday a guest lecturer, Jyri Rasinmäki from Vapa Media Oy. He told us about problem solving and the importance of thinking and asking questions. He said that these things steer the group work into best possible direction.

"The size of the problem is equivalent to the amount ot the time used to solve the problem"

- Jyri Rasinmäki

He also told that the most important thing is curiosity in all things. One example that he also said that is is important to jusk ask quastions without fear. People will remember you better them and you will leave a good impression. He told us to write down three points that we learned or could help us to solve any problem better.

My answers:

1. Always be curious

2. Ask (the right) questions

3. Creativity and criticism can't be present at the same time

Jyri Rasinmäki and the circle of creative progress

On the same day almost every group presented their tasks. It was really interesting to hear about them because the companies are so different. I think that everybody are going to learn much about this project. This might actually be the most exiting and interesting project so far in our education.

We went to Laurea Tikkurila with Linda Knuutila to watch live stream from Nordic Business Forum. Before we got there I was quite doubtful that would it be interesting to watch voluntarily some guy just talk somewhere. This "some guy" was Simon Sinek. I couln't have been more wrong. He was is a really charismatic speaker who is able to make the growd listen to him. I have so many pages of notes about what he told but I am going to try to tell a summary. His speech's name was leaders eat last. He told that this came from marines where the senior marines eat last voluntarily because that is how they view leadership. They are taking care of their people and this is how people will take care of each other. Mr Sinek also described how trust and co-operation result of the environment we are in. We have to face the danger together and so creates a so-called circle of trust. In companies this was people feel safe in their jobs ans so customers and company benefits. He highlighted that there shouldn't be vision statements that are abstract. We can't see the goal and thus creates no motivation. When rewarding employees, should people know that employees can be addicted to meeting the numbers because of the dopamine rush. This can destroy relationships and can lead to backstabbing. I think that the most important thing that I learned was that leadership is a choise and it doesn't matter about money, it is about time and effort sacrificed. Also that when you talk with somebody and you have a phone in your hand or on your table can send a message that the other is not that important. When you for example put your phone in your pocket when you talk with somebody, it can build trust.
